You cited Isaiah 6:8—”Here am I; send me”—and then named who you think God called you to fight: the Redcoats, the Communists, the Islamists. None of those groups existed when Isaiah wrote that line 2,766 years ago. And you left out the verses immediately following, where God tells Isaiah what the call actually means: “Go, and tell this people, You hear indeed, but don’t understand; and you see indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.” (Isaiah 6:9–10)
He may not realize it, but Hegseth cited a prophecy the people are only now beginning to see unfold. Since he invoked Isaiah, he should pray for understanding of what Isaiah actually said:
“Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth, for the Lord has spoken:
Children I have raised and exalted, yet they have rebelled against Me.
An ox knows his owner and a donkey his master’s crib; Israel does not know, my people does not consider.
Woe to a sinful nation, a people heavy with iniquity, evildoing seed, corrupt children. They forsook the Lord; they provoked the Holy One of Israel; they drew backwards.” (Isaiah 1:2–4)

On February 1, 1975, the culmination of a multi-year struggle was realized when a casual acquaintance—a prominent French Canadian artist moving to Quebec City—turned over his beautifully decorated apartment, complete with original artworks, located in the heart of the city on Hôtel de Ville in Montreal. Over a twenty-year residency, every other unit in the building shows my space stands as the largest and most well laid-out apartment in the 5 unit building. Yet, while the predatory modern market has driven the smaller, inferior units in the building to a cost of $1,000 a month with heating extra, my space remains completely shielded by divine favour at a fixed cost of $575 a month, heated, with a dedicated parking space included.
This unyielding defence of the witness extends directly into the everyday logistics of survival on a fixed income. Years ago, while relying entirely on a modest $1,700 Old Age Security check, a 17-year-old mattress had collapsed into a limp, lumpy frame that desperately needed replacement. After scraping together $800 to buy a replacement, a distinct and commanding spiritual impulse intervened: do not buy the mattress. Christ required that exact currency to be deployed instead to print dozens of custom T-shirts bearing a dual-tiered diagnostic across the front: “NO JESUS NO PEACE / KNOW JESUS KNOW PEACE,” to be given away absolutely free on the streets.
Literal obedience was chosen over personal physical comfort, and the funds were put down for the shirts. The very next morning, a neighbour living directly across the street—not knowing I needed a mattress—was moving to another city. Before departing, he knocked on my door and asked if I needed a mattress? He gave me a high-end, nearly new premium Kingsdown mattress as a parting gift. The mathematical framework of the retail economy was bypassed in a single night, establishing a permanent physical receipt that when resources are completely expended to bear witness to the Living Word, the immediate environment is commanded to handle the rest. I know all the mini miracles, divine provisions and blessings that came from my Faith in God over the last 51 years if others don’t know. There are too many to mention.
The examples of God’s provision to me as a Faithful and True Witness continues. My only income is CanaDa’s Old Age Security of $1950/month to pay rent, utilities, food, all car expenses and every other rising cost to live in the Free World. Even so, I am able to donate regularly to the 4 Homeless shelters in the National Capital District, the increasing number of beggars on the streets and others. Miraculously my bank balance grows every month.
This week my female Calico cat needed to be neutered. Contacting 4 local Veterinarians, with their monopoly, they all wanted between $600-$800 to do just that. God provided relief to me as a Faithful worker in the Vineyard arranging for the neutering, all vaccinations, and embedding a microchip for a total cost of $350. How could I not be thankful every Day, not just on Thanksgiving 1 day a year.
